And it'll live up to every expectation, I'one thousand sure of it. I was having such a great time on my 2 week Ireland road trip, and finally we, as well, had reached Republic of ireland's most famous sight. Although visiting the Slieve League Cliffs come a close second, despite not being well known.

Then with a hop over the barriers (don't tell security) and decent luck with the weather (y'all never tin exist sure), you'll get the photos you lot've been hoping for. I hope my blog post helps yous program your trip when visiting the Cliffs of Moher:

The Cliffs of Moher Tickets Price?

After a long drive from Port Magee to the Cliffs of Moher we discovered that they kinda take a ticket for the Cliffs of Moher. This was something I had no idea about before nosotros arrived, and I was surprised that a natural allure could exist ticketed. How it works basically is that neither the tickets, nor opening/closing times, are enforced.

If yous park at their main carpark, and enter through their visitor'southward centre, with toilets, restaurants, paved walkways etc, and then yep you have to buy a ticket (although if you lot arrive after 5pm, as nosotros did, it's free and far less crowded, highly recommended) priced at €half-dozen per person, but often the centre is 'full' during the day so beware!

If yous don't want to pay the €6, you tin can park effectually 1km or so before or subsequently the centre and merely walk up to the cliffs yourself (perhaps a fifteen infinitesimal walk) via a few land lanes. Personally we were prepared to pay the €6 to get the total experience, merely as we were after 5pm it was free anyway.

Pretending to propose to Josh, he'due south a lucky guy! 😛

When you enter the principal centre, information technology's a 10 infinitesimal walk, follow the path/crowds and presently you'll see the hugely impressive cliffs in all their glory. Before you become walking on the cliffs, head up to O'Brien'south Tower, the little lighthouse-esque building on top of the hill (an additional €two to go to the acme, we didn't bother). The best views are from that side.

Cliffs of Moher Peak TIP

If you lot jump over the bulwark opposite O'Brien's Tower, there is a grass bank that overlooks the whole cliffs. Information technology's pretty safety, and there'due south no-one there, so information technology'due south every bit if you have the whole Cliffs of Moher to yourself, spectacular. Naturally, I wouldn't recommend that you likewise break the rules, but just so you lot know…..

After we had our piffling photo shoot fun, we went for a walk forth the cliffs. Give yourself a good hour or and so to wander around them, they are truly spectacular. We were running out of sunlight so nosotros had a brisk xxx minute powerwalk, and looking over the edge is something I'll never forget. Be care though, people fall to their decease every year, information technology's a sheer drop and in that location's no-one surviving that!

Getting to the Cliffs of Moher every bit a day trip from Dublin is doable likewise. It's about 3.5-hour bulldoze from Dublin then an early on start could get you lot here for midday, spend ii/three hours here and back in Dublin for a late dinner.

A better choice would be to use Galway as your base. Galway is a actually fun, Irish gaelic city – just xc-minute drive from the Cliffs of Moher. Also, it's a cracking starting off point to visit the Aran Islands besides, which was my next destination after the Cliffs of Moher.

Where to stay at the Cliffs of Moher

Galway is also a brilliant place to take a few drinks, and soak up a real 'Irish' city. We stayed at an astonishing hotel in the city centre, the Hotel Meyrick, right by Eyre Square. 160 years old, traditionally styled, and after a 5-60 minutes drive, Skellig Michael in the morning, Cliffs of Moher in the late afternoon another 90-minute bulldoze to Galway, we were drastic for a bit of luxury.

I organised a room for both Josh and myself, only also for the girls. Nosotros had a gruelling schedule the final few days, so we needed a 'pick up' and the Hotel Meyrick did merely that. Nosotros valet-parked our gorgeous Camper Van (perhaps the first people to do that at this hotel?! Ah, the joys of being a blogger!), and checked in to a seriously impressive lobby. The foyer, though, was presently outdone by our exectutive room which was nigh the same size as my condo in Bangkok!

It was a quick shower and change before we fully unwinded by going for a group repast at the No.15 restaurant in the basement . Cherry wine and steak after 1 of the best travel days of my life was the perfect finish, or almost the perfect end. The perfect cease came with a Guinness after a brusk walk into town! And with that perfect mean solar day, I was set for an emotional render to my place of nascence, the Aran Islands or InisMor to exist precise. I hadn't been back since I was less than two years old.

Ireland's 2nd most popular tourist attraction the Cliffs of Moher had been a success. (The Guinness Storehouse in Dublin is number 1, proving Irish drinking stereotypes right since the 17th century!).
