How To Remove A Fluted Nail

I want to remove the wooden threshold fastened to the floor at the bottom of our overhead garage door. I need to thoroughly wash the physical garage flooring before applying epoxy paint, and the threshold will make it real tough to drain or dry the floor. I effigy I'll remove the wooden 1 and supercede it with a safe one after the flooring is done.

The existing threshold is held in place with ability-driven nails, similar you'd leave of a Hilti gun. What'southward the all-time way to pull up the threshold and the nails? I could ever break out the forest and use an angle grinder to grind the nails flush with the slab, but that seems like the hard way to do things. I've not even so tried to pull information technology up, but thought I'd run into if anyone had any tips before I requite information technology a tug.

to quote dremel:

did we mention that we cut?

Going through 20 or 30 extra hard steel nails with a Dremel would only take be about two days and a half a case of the lilliputian carborundum cutoff disks. :D

I would launder the flooring, and so rather then pull anything, I would employ a store vac to suck upward the bulk of the water. Add a fan or two to dry up what piddling remains and you lot tin can be "watching the floor dry" with a cold adult beverage".

Still considering that as a possibility. I'll see how I'chiliad feeling later on I get the carpet nail strips pulled and patched.

Although instead of an adult bev, I'll be hanging Christmas decorations for LOML as it dries. ;)

Well, the threshold is up. I ended up grinding the tops off the nails, so prying the woods up. Not only was it nailed (almost a dozen times) is was heavily glued. About an 60 minutes with the angle grinder and I got information technology all pretty well cleaned upwardly, simply in that location are a number of craters.

At present it's off the the store for some slab patching fabric to fill up the holes under the threshold, as well equally all the holes caused by the rug nailer strip around the perimeter of the store.
